Our pick

The GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is first in this list with an index of 71 (the RTX 4090 is 100). It launched in 2025 at $749 with 16 GB of memory and a 300 W power rating.

The gap from first to tenth is 42%: the Radeon RX 7800 XT scores 50. 30 graphics cards for 1440p matched our filter, and the table shows the ten fastest.

Best value and the rest

The best value is the Radeon RX 9070 XT, with 11.2 index points per $100 of launch price against 9.5 for the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti. It scores 67 and launched at $599.

The cheapest in the table is the Radeon RX 7800 XT at $499, with an index of 50.

9 of the 10 cards here have 12 GB of memory or more.

Why 1440p asks more of a card

A 1440p image has about 78% more pixels than 1080p. In our model that works out to roughly a third more graphics power for the same frame rate, and that is the reason a card that is comfortable at 1080p can feel slow at 1440p.

The index of 30 is the line we use for cards that handle 1440p on high settings in most games. Cards in the lower part of this table do it with fewer spare frames, and an upscaler such as DLSS or FSR makes up the difference.

How we made this list

Desktop graphics cards from 2020 on with at least 8 GB of memory, an index of 30 or more and a launch price of $800 or less, ranked by performance index. The index is our own estimate of gaming performance, so it is a guide to which part is faster and not a benchmark result. Prices are launch prices in US dollars, not today's shelf prices. The methodology page explains how the index is built.
