What is Will This Game Run?

Will This Game Run is a free checker that tells you whether your PC can run a game. Pick the game and your graphics card, add your processor and memory for a tighter result, and you get a verdict, the fps to expect at 1080p, 1440p and 4K, and the cheapest upgrade if it falls short.

The numbers are estimates from our own scoring model, not benchmarks. How we estimate.

How to read the result

Runs great: 90 fps or more on High at 1080p. Runs well: 60 or more. Playable: 40 to 60, and Medium will feel smoother. Low settings only: you need Low or Medium to stay above 30. Won't run well: below what the game asks for.

Averages hide dips, so if a result sits close to a line, take the lower verdict.

Where the data comes from

Game requirements come from each game's Steam page, and we add new releases every week. Hardware specs come from manufacturer sheets; the performance scores are our own estimates, and every page that uses them says so.

Common questions

How does the checker decide if my PC can run a game?

Every game lists a minimum and a recommended graphics card and processor. We place those parts and yours on one performance scale, estimate the frame rate for each resolution and quality preset, and base the verdict on the estimate at 1080p on High.

Are the frame rates exact?

No. They are estimates, good for telling "runs great" from "will struggle" and not for telling 87 fps from 92. The methodology page explains the model and its limits.

What if my graphics card or game is not listed?

For a card, pick the closest model; cards one step apart are usually within 15 percent of each other. For anything missing, use the small i button on the Can I run it page and tell us. New games and parts are added in the weekly update.

Does it work for laptops?

Yes. Laptop graphics cards and processors are listed separately, because a laptop RTX 4060 is slower than the desktop card with the same name.

What does bottleneck mean?

It means one part holds the other back, most often a slow processor stopping a fast graphics card. The bottleneck calculator shows which part limits your PC and by how much.

Is the site free?

Yes, with nothing to sign up for. If we add affiliate links to graphics cards in the future they will be labelled, and they will not change a ranking or a verdict.
